This year, 4073 on the Chinese calendar, is the Year of The Dog.

According to kung fu master Rick Panico, whose students animated the lions, the dance brings prosperity to businesses in the New Year. The lions chase away evil spirits and bring good luck so people spend a lot of money in the business.

View panoramic and video on charlotte.com
Chinese New Year | University of Victoria
Chinese Calendar Information

To begin the special day, about 3,000 of the followers of Mohammed gathered Tuesday morning at the Charlotte Merchandise Mart for special prayer service. Today, fasting is prohibited, and a celebration glorifying Allah are the rule of the day. Children are traditionally given treats and balloons, to remind them this is a special day for Muslims.
Learn more about Islam
View pano and slide show on charlotte.com

20 minutes with the snow faries

photographed December 15, 2005
This is my offering for the final WWP event of 2005. A touring company of the Radio City Rockettes played the holiday season in Charlotte. I was fortunate enough to get most of the members of the company to pose for a panoramic portrait in the 2nd floor lobby of Ovens Auditorium. They were great to work with, and the portrait got over 6K page views on charlotte.com.
The WWP site is now live: The World Wide Pano
To view the image interactively, go here: Rockettes fullscreen
Visit the Rockettes on the Radio City website.
